What Afterglow is

Afterglow turns the photos from a trip you've already taken into a travel diary — a globe you can fly through, a story, a shareable reel, and a book you can order printed. You can use Afterglow for free, or upgrade to Plus for more room and extra features. Create an account and your diary backs up to the cloud, so it's there on every device you use. By using Afterglow, you agree to these terms.

Your account

Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep your login details to yourself. One account per person, please — sharing logins makes it hard for us to keep your diary safe. If we see an account being used to abuse the service, we may suspend or restrict it.

Your content

Your photos and your words stay yours. Creating an account doesn't hand us ownership — it gives us only the licence we need to run the service: storing and syncing your trips, showing a share link you create, running the AI features you choose to use, and sending photos to our print partner when you order a book. You need to own the rights to whatever you upload, and you won't upload anything unlawful.

Reporting shared content

A share link (afterglow.travel/s/…) is made and shared by the traveller who owns it — we don't review it before it goes live. If a shared page looks wrong, abusive, or shouldn't be public, write to hello@afterglow.travel with the link and we'll look into it, including taking it down while we do.

Subscriptions & billing

Plus costs €29.99 a year or €8.99 a month, billed through Stripe. Prices include VAT where it applies. You can cancel any time from Manage plan & billing in your account — cancelling stops the next renewal, but you keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for.

Storage & fair use

A free account stores up to 5 GB of original-quality photos in the cloud; Plus raises that to 25 GB. Your account page shows how much you have used. When you reach the limit we stop backing up new originals — we never delete what is already there, and your photos stay on your own device either way.

Backup and restore are meant for keeping your own trips safe, so both are subject to fair use. Repeatedly downloading your whole archive, automated or bulk transfers, or use that costs us far more to serve than a normal member, may be slowed or paused. We will always contact you first and give you a chance to sort it out, and you can export your data at any time under Your content above.

AI credits

Credits pay for AI features that cost us money to run — mainly photo enhancement. You get 10 credits when you sign up, and Plus adds 10 fresh credits every month; you can also buy credit packs. Credits have no cash value, aren't refundable, and expire if you close your account. Enhancing a photo spends one credit, and you're only charged once an enhanced image is actually delivered to you — a failed or cancelled enhancement doesn't cost you a credit.

AI features

Afterglow uses AI to help draft journal entries, suggest captions, and enhance photos. This output is generated automatically and can be imperfect — review it before you print or share your book. There are two ways to repair a photo, and they are not the same. Boost for printis a faithful upscaler: it sharpens and cleans up the photo you already took, and it doesn't invent a different image. Blur repairis experimental and works differently — it uses AI to redraw detail the camera never captured, so faces and fine detail may come back slightly changed. We label it experimental wherever it is offered, we keep your original, and you should compare the two before you print. Don't use enhancement on photos you don't have the right to, or on unlawful imagery, and don't use any Afterglow AI feature to mislead people about what's real. We may decline to process anything that breaks this.

Printed books

Printed books are physical goods, produced by our print partner, Peecho, based in Amsterdam. Pricing is shown to you at checkout, starting from €39, with shipping and any destination sales tax added there.

Cancelling.Before a book reaches the presses, contact us and we'll ask Peecho to stop it. If it has not started printing you get a full refund. Peecho takes the payment, so the refund comes from them; we chase it for you.

Returns. Once printing has started, no. The usual 14 days to change your mind about an online purchase does not apply to goods made to your own specification, and a book of your own photographs is about as personalised as an object gets — nobody else could ever be sold it. That is the law across the EU rather than a policy we invented, and it is why we show you the price and the exact page count before you commit.

Faults.A printing or delivery defect always gets a free reprint, whatever stage it is at. Send us a photo of the problem — you don't need to send the damaged copy back, and there is no deadline to beat. This covers printing and delivery faults: smudges, misaligned pages, a bent cover, a torn spine. It does not cover a photo that was always going to look soft — the editor flags low-resolution photos with a badge before you order, and a photo kept despite that warning is not a printing fault.

Liability

We back up your cloud diary with care, but a backup isn't a substitute for your own copies — keep your own copy of any photo you can't afford to lose. Afterglow is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it reliable and accurate, but we can't guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account panel — see our Privacy Policy for what that removes. Deleting your account also removes your cloud backups and any remaining credits, so export anything you want to keep first.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Afterglow changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use Afterglow after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and the Dutch courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, that does not take anything away from you: you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim there. A governing-law clause cannot override those rights.
