What Afterglow is

Afterglow is a web app that turns the photos from a trip you've already taken into a travel book. It reads your photos in your browser to reconstruct your journey, uses AI to help you write and design your pages, and — soon — lets you order a printed copy. By using Afterglow, you agree to these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Afterglow only for lawful purposes. In particular, you won't:

• Upload or process content you don't have the right to use.
• Try to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
• Use Afterglow to generate content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes on others' rights.

We may suspend or restrict access for accounts or usage patterns that abuse the service.

AI-generated content

Afterglow's AI features help draft journal entries and page layouts based on your photos and what you tell it. AI-written text can be imperfect — it may misread a place, date, or detail. You're always shown the chance to review and edit this content before it's finalized or printed, and you're responsible for checking it before you print or share your book.

AI photo assist (optional)

AI photo assist is an optional feature, off by default, that can pick your best photos and match captions to the right picture. Your photos stay on your device unless you turn it on. When enabled, Afterglow sends small thumbnails of your photos to Anthropic's API for processing; those thumbnails are used only for that request and are not stored on our servers. Its suggestions are automated and may be wrong — nothing is deleted, photos it sets aside are moved to your shelf and you can restore them, and you should review the result before you print or share your book. The on-device tidy-up tools (hiding blurry photos, removing duplicates) run entirely in your browser and send nothing.

Print orders

Printed book ordering is not live yet. Once available, pricing will be shown to you at the time you place an order. Printed books are physical goods produced by our print partner; if a printed copy arrives damaged or defective, contact us and we will work with our print partner to make it right.

Photo resolution: print quality depends on the resolution of the photos you supply. Afterglow marks photos that fall below recommended print resolution with a warning in the editor. If you choose to include a marked photo, you accept that it may appear soft or blurry in the printed book — that outcome is not a defect and is not eligible for a refund or reprint. The warning is a best-effort aid, not a guarantee: the absence of a warning does not promise a particular print quality, which also depends on your original photo.

Liability

Afterglow is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it reliable and accurate, but we can't guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Afterglow changes — for example, when print ordering or cloud saving goes live. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use Afterglow after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
